Shepton Mallet flea market (July 2015)

Having been denied a flea market at the Bath & West show ground for both May and June, this month’s couldn’t come soon enough and so this Sunday I reluctantly emerged from underneath the duvet and headed towards Shepton Mallet.

I was looking for smaller items, mostly tins, tea cups or jelly moulds to make candles with. There were plenty of stalls and just doing one ‘lap’ took me 3 hours. Here’s some snaps from the day:

Prices weren’t too bad, although a little higher than usual but here’s what I found:

The tins and pots are all for candles but the large vase and striped linen are for keeps. The linen was the end of a large roll which you could buy for £7 per metre. It’s wide enough to make cushions with so may be used for that in the future but at the moment I’m happy pretending my table is straight from a French farmhouse!

The vase is going to be used as a succulent planter eventually but for now some foraged buddleia looks quite at home in it.

There were loads of things I saw and loved but I had to remain focused on finding things for candles ahead of The Frome Independent market which I’m selling at on the 2nd August.

Did you go to the flea market this month or are you planning on going to the next one? There are only two left this year, September 27th and December 6th which is a little scary!
